Wine and Whales Golf Tours is a small business based in Somerset West, the gateway to the winelands of the Western Cape of South Africa.  The intention is to keep the business small to guarantee personal attention to detail and quality.  We facilitate all land arrangements from the time of arrival in the Western Cape to departure.

The concept of a small operation offering quality tailored holidays and tours to smaller groups was conceived whilst trying to arrange just such a vacation from overseas.   Pre-planning time was limited and delegation of the research did not always produce the best options – or budgets!  It takes time to research the optimum combination of accommodation, golf courses, wine tasting, restaurants and shopping opportunities for the ‘other half’.  The key is, of course, expert local knowledge.

And so the idea was born of offering a service to like minded people whose holiday destination is the Western Cape of South Africa.

There have been five generations of Bents in South Africa and Alan has recently returned to the Cape after spending some twenty years in the banking and finance industry overseas.  Although Alan travelled extensively during that time, he always made an annual pilgrimage to the Cape.  In season, the trip always included a visit to Hermanus to see the whales.  These trips inspired him to return to his roots and to create a new lifestyle.

Often the expectations of a holiday fall short as the result of daily logistics and concerns re local conditions.   Wine and Whales Golf Tours removes this angst – even the debate as to who will do the driving after a night at one of the incredible restaurants that the Cape has in abundance.  It offers an affordable, personalised service from seasoned travellers who understand what is required to make a holiday in the Western Cape a truly pleasurable experience.

The optimum number for a group is four to eight.  This allows maximum flexibility in terms of arrangements and timetables to accommodate all members of the group and enables interactive exchange – we want to talk about what you are interested in. However, we can accommodate up to ten for other tours but are equally happy to take two.
